This is a unique opportunity, never before available, to purchase a sought after family Estate located in the heart of the Marlborough grape growing area in New Zealand. The Estates form a self supporting and independent viable unit which has earned recognition throughout New Zealand and world wide, offering tremendous potential for the future through either continued trading as is, or through continuing expansion.
The land totals 176 acres of prime producing soils spread across the floor of the Omaka Valley, with stunning views and a superb location. The 176 acres are divided into four titles, 1 title of 122 acres on Falveys Road and a further three titles (a 15 acre and two 20 acre titles), totalling 55 acres on Kennedys Road.
Vineyard plantings consist of approximately 134 acres of desirable cool climate grapes. These include the world renown Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and Merlot. All plants are grafted on phylloxera resistant root stock and the ages of the vines vary from planted in 1989 to 2005. The grapes have consistently produced high quality medal winning wines and the winery has sold out the last five years running.
On the Kennedys Road site is the Estate winery. This was purpose built in 1994-95 and has been subsequently extended. It is equipped with modern equipment allowing medal winning wines to be produced using traditional methods. The winery currently has the capacity for 600 tons (subject to tank space), but could be easily expanded to produce wines from other vineyard grapes. All plant and machinery is new or has been purchased in the last few years. The current stocks of bulk and bottled wine are included in the sale, as is the crop on the vines (if applicable due to the time of the year) so giving an immediate opportunity for income.
The current owners were pioneers of the New Zealand olive industry. The Estates include one of the largest commercial olive groves in the country, over 2,000 trees, and form the largest collection of varieties that is available for purchase within New Zealand. All trees were either imported or sourced from accredited nurseries and form the basis of an exciting and promising future industry.
Also on the Kennedys Road title is the family residence. The Award designed home is a four bedroom, three bathroom home, built of cedar and brick in 1990. It has been carefully maintained and is enhanced by the in ground swimming pool and large gardens, admirably suited for out door living.
On the Falveys Road title is the aircraft runway, used for applying winter fertilizer to the Omaka Springs Estates and adjoining vineyards.
Finally, the vendor will include the Estate title and label, Omaka Springs Estates, which has established markets in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, the USA and the United Kingdom, all of the land, vineyards, vineyard and winery assets, all intellectual knowledge BUT no liabilities, if there are any. This would make the business available for sale as a going concern with the purchaser only buying the good bits and no bad bits.
